Testing – Giropès’ Macro Installation of 23 Weighbridges in Port of Ghana

Giropès SL (Ghana) – Installation of 23 weighbridges at one of the largest ports in Africa.

Giropès is in the final stage of shipping and installing truck scales for one of the most important contracts in its history.

The contract was obtained at the end of 2018 and the last weighbridges have now been assembled this June in a macro project that comes to an end this summer for those companies involved in the entrances and exits of the port terminal.

The project consists of 23 weighbridges and all are the model BPPCE EVO, 18 x 3 meters in size with a capacity of 100 tons. These modular metal scales have been treated with special Akzo Nobel Epoxy paint to withstand the corrosive environment of seaports.

The scales are integrated via the GI410 weight indicators with Ethernet, an electronic system developed by the company itself. The weight transmission is linked to the automated access carried out by Camco Technologies for the new Tema port. Ghana's new container port, operated by Meridian Port Services Limited (MPS), will be the main cargo terminal in West and Central Africa.

The 23 scales cover a total of four different entrances. 14 of them are located at the main entrance, providing a channel for the constant flow of vehicles and containers. These accesses are equipped with a weight detection system integrated with a verification system for vehicles and drivers that activates guidelines for the internal circulation of vehicles and containers.

With the equipment installed at the Port of Barcelona Terminal, and other Spanish ports such as Sagunto, Seville, Motril, Ferrol, Bilbao or Valencia, in addition to its incursion into the installation of truck scales in the port of Salalah de Oman, the port of Bangladesh and the port of Brazzaville on the Congo River, the company has significantly increased their visibility as an agent for this type of facility.
